Ocean Isle Beach is one of the southernmost of North Carolina’s unique barrier islands. Miles and miles of powder white sand, sun-danced waves, and windswept marshlands make our community one of the loveliest places on the earth.
In contrast to other resort areas along the southeastern coast, Ocean Isle has chosen to avoid the everyday hustle and bustle. Instead, this resort island has sustained a family beach atmosphere and has proudly kept itself on a low-key, low-rise course. It’s the perfect place for vacationers who want to relax and enjoy a quiet, refreshing time.
Ocean Isle Beach lies between the historic port of Wilmington, N.C. and the tourist attractions of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Although Ocean Isle Beach has grown and developed over the years, it has maintained its relaxed and leisurely charm.
Stretching for seven miles along the Atlantic Ocean, our beach provides the perfect place for a relaxing morning swim in the surf, building sandcastles with your family or turtle-watching in the evening.
If you want to try your hand at fishing, head down to the Ocean Isle Beach Fishing Pier, one of the oldest fishing piers on the coast, or take advantage of one of the local charter fishing services. If you have your own boat, you may launch from the town’s public boat ramp.
Golfers will find more than 100 excellent courses within a 45-minute drive of Ocean Isle offering challenging play and spectacular greens.
Children can enjoy the planned activities at the Ocean Isle Beach Community Center, Monday through Thursday in the summers, or learn about our coastal history through the educational programming at the Museum of Coastal Carolina. The Ingram Planetarium on nearby Sunset Beach, NC is one of the best in the southeastern united states.
