“Mittens” The Cat has been a fixture at The Winds Resort Beach Club for years:
As usual she has been expending as little energy as possible during these long hot summer days.
Here she is on a lazy day lounging around The Winds Resort Beach Club on Ocean Isle Beach. “Its a rough job but someone’s got to do it” said Mittens when we spoke to her later in the day.
Mittens showed up one day as a kitten and settled into her new home. She earns her keep by running pesky varmints away from The Winds. The rest of the time she either sleeps or entertains the children by permitting them to love on her. She is very gentle and loves to be loved!

Sandcastle Building at The Winds Resort Beach Club on Ocean Isle Beach NC
For years the Delgado family have spent their summer vacations at The Winds Resort Beach Club on Ocean Isle Beach.
It all started when Bill Delgado, a printing and graphics teacher from Twinsburg OH, and his family began building a large sand sculpture on the beach many years ago. Bill always encourages other families on the beach to join in.
Last year the Delgados returned to The Winds for another go at it with Mary, Katherine, Hunter and others that joined in. Together they created Snoopy, a Sea Turtle and a Fish with sunglasses and a ball cap. And that was just the day shown in video! Every day they created something different.

5th Annual Christmas Boat Flotilla and Party
Despite a light drizzle the 5th Annual Christmas Boat Flotilla and Party last Saturday was a resounding success with a great time for all and a substantial amount of money raised for the through the evening at Sharky’s Waterfront Restaurant.
Over $8,000.00 was raised for this year’s benefit The Brunswick County Family Assistance Agency. Charles and Michelle … organize the event each year to raise money for various non-profit charities
Sharky’s, as always, was the location. Ray Harris and staff served hot dogs and pizza by the slice and hot clam chowder and the THE COUSIN HOMER BAND rocked into the night.

The winning float, seen at the end of this video, was a very realistic representation of an Aquatic Firetruck. The winners received two ticket to see Jimmy Buffet in concert courtesy of an island resident who works with the famous singer/songwriter/restaurantuer/entrepenuer.
Be sure not to miss this wing ding next year – it was a real blast!

82nd Airborne at The Winds Resort Beach Club on Ocean Isle Beach
Soldiers of the 82nd Airborne stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC came to The Winds Resort Beach Club on Ocean Isle Beach for some much deserved R&R the weekend of October 10th. Accompanied by their wives, children, friends and girl friends, they arrived exhausted as they had participated in a day long triathlon before heading out for Ocean Isle.
The Winds hosted a dinner catered by Sharky’s restaurant. They then enjoyed a party provided by the Winds in two adjoining function rooms. They all had loads of fun drinking and eating and dancing, to music played by the DJ. The video pretty much says it all!
